Custom Donation Box Created for Regional Dance Center
A prominent regional dance venue has collaborated with a city museum to produce a distinctive, attention-grabbing donation receptacle. This bespoke piece was crafted in the museum's workshop facilities.
The one-of-a-kind artistic creation aims to communicate the dance center's nonprofit status and community goals while generating funds for its grassroots initiatives. Every contribution collected will be matched by a national arts funding body.
Graeme Smith, the designer and fabricator behind the donation box, shared: "The illuminated display features playful hinged components inspired by a preserved stained-glass window from the building's chapel origins."
"Etched into the surface are silhouettes depicting performers and participants from various activities hosted at the venue."
Jess Boyle, who manages development at the dance center, explained: "We wanted to make sure everyone who visits understands that we operate as a charitable organization dependent on funding support and public generosity."
"Partnering with the museum, especially their design workshop, was an exciting opportunity. We're thrilled with what they've created. Children who visit are particularly delighted watching the dancing figures rotate each time a coin drops in.
"The design brilliantly captures both our building's chapel heritage and the flowing, elegant quality of movement—perfectly embodying our purpose as a hub for dance, contemporary circus, and outdoor performance.
"Like all revenue we generate as the region's only dedicated dance facility, these donations will fund our collaborations with local educational institutions and community organizations.
"This outreach is essential for tackling important challenges around education, wellness, health, and social connection with some of the most underserved populations in our area."
The dance center is situated in the city's cultural district on Chapel Street.
